Dearest Friends,
Hungry Eyes in Cork
The picture above was repeated many times today. I regularly saw children and adults with hungry eyes staring back at me. Though we may not know it, God made us to be hungry to know Him. He made us to ache for a relationship with Him!
We have spent the last 2 and a half days in the city of Cork. This is a new place for us, as we have never worked here before! None of us knew what to expect.
Yesterday was not the best day for us. Few seemed interested and most were too busy to stop and listen. Today, we moved to a different location and it was much better. Many incredible conversations took place with our friends who were in the crowd passing out free CDs, treats for the children and Christian literature for every age group. Many people came and thanked me for being here and telling Bible stories. One lady said, “This is exactly what Cork needs!” It was a great day!
Please forgive me for not writing sooner. Parking is expensive and hard to get , so we had to park the cars out of town at the church’s garage. We have been staying at a hostel on top of a very high hill. Everyday, we have been walking around 4 miles. I have just been too tired to write, but so very blessed!
The population of Cork is quite substantial when compared to other areas of Ireland. The current population according to the most recent census shows that the metropolitan population is 417,211. A little over 10,000 would call themselves evangelical Christians. Please pray for this city. No one should live with hungry eyes!
